Your selected question

What is Card Security Code & Address Verification Services (CSC/AVS)?

Your Card Security Code forms part of an additional verification service offered to suppliers to help combat fraud in card-not-present situations.  For example when you purchase by mail order, telephone, fax, or over the Internet.

On the signature strip on the reverse of all Barclaycards’ you will see a set of 4 and 3 digits. Your Card Security Code is the last 3 digits on this strip. This information, together with statement address details, may be checked during the normal authorisation procedure and will help provide additional information to the supplier to confirm your details before proceeding with the transaction.

Do not quote your Card Security Code unless it is requested by a supplier for a card-not-present transaction, or you are talking to a member of Barclaycard staff in relation to a query.
