Your selected question
How long do I have to wait before I get my benefits when I successfully claim?
This is known as a deferment period, and you have a choice of four different deferment periods - 14, 30, 90 or 180 days.
If you choose a 14 day deferment period, you'll receive a daily equivalent of the monthly benefit you've chosen for each consecutive day you've been unable to work from the first day of the accident, sickness or involuntary unemployment. So the first payment will be on the 15th day, but it will be backdated to the first day of your accident, sickness or involuntary unemployment.
If you choose a 30, 90 or 180 day deferment period, you'll receive a daily equivalent of your chosen monthly benefit for each consecutive day you're unable to work after the deferment period. So the first payment will be on day 31, day 91 or day 181, but it won't be backdated to the first day of your accident, sickness or involuntary unemployment.
