How do I cancel an authorisation code (including pre-authorisations)?

If you or the cardholder decides not to go ahead straight away with the card payment you must cancel the authorisation by calling 0844 822 2000*.

You'll be prompted for your merchant number and the transaction type, then given the option to say ‘Cancellation' or press option 4.

Cancellation requests can only be submitted for transactions that have not been banked or completed on your terminal.

Please note, it can take up to 7 to 10 working days before the funds appear back on the cardholder's account, even after the authorisation code has been cancelled.
